2019 Wellness Trends

Itโ€™s the start of the new year and as such publications and companies like Well and Good, Mind Body Green, Whole Foods, ClassPass and Harper’s Bazaar have started put out their predictions for 2019 trends in fitness, food, wellness and more.

Here are the trends Iโ€™m most excited about:

A personal fav, sound healing uses vibrations and frequencies to promote healing and relaxation in the body and mind. You can attend dedicated sound healing workshops and events, but this form of therapy is also infiltrating yoga sessions and spa treatments these days. Also known is dynamic meditation, sophrology combines breathing, meditation and visualization to promote relaxation by connecting the right and left hemispheres of the brain. Itโ€™s like all my favorite meditative practices bundled into one!

Also called TRE (tension & trauma exercise), involved a series of controlled shaking exercises that aim to release muscular tension and reduce stress. Sounds odd, but super unique. Definitely going to keep my eyes peeled for TRE classes.

Intuitive eating is what I currently practice. As a recovering food-, calorie-, carb- all of the above restrictor and dieter, having finally learned to tune into my body and to nourish it and give it what it needs (yes, including sugar), it feels SO incredible to be free from the shackles of distorted eating.

Some of you may not know this, but I spent a few years working on the corporate side of the cannabis industry, so as a long-time advocate of cannabis and hemp related products, it makes my heart swell to see CBD moving into the limelight.

Learning that workouts that induce the release of cortisol (think lots of cardio, heavy weights a la spin class or crossfit) can actually undermine your results has changed everything. Donโ€™t get me wrong, I still love those types of workouts, but theyโ€™re no longer the star of the show.

A plant-based retin-alt (retinoil alternative) that works as an anti-inflammatory and an antioxidant. Itโ€™s ideal for those with dry, sensitive skin and canโ€™t tolerate a retinol. Plus Iโ€™m all about clean beauty!
