The Practice of Morning Pages

Morning pages is practice created by Julia Cameron and detailed in her book The Artist’s Way: A Spiritual Path To Higher Creativity. Practicing morning pages is quite simple, but it’s had PROFOUND EFFECTS ON MY LIFE.

To do morning pages, all you need to do is write three longhand, stream of consciousness pages first thing in the morning. Write anything and everything that comes to mind. There doesn’t need to be a structure, pattern, theme or even logic to the pages as there’s no wrong way to do it. Don’t overthink – just write.

For me, and many others who practice morning pages, I’ve found it’s helped me:

✧ Dump out all the silly worries, concerns and stressful thoughts that creep into my mind during that lucid hour before waking

✧ Create space for more creative and highly strategic thinking to come in

✧ Strengthen my intuition and inner badass

✧ Gain more clarity and calm

✧ Eliminate and reduce daily anxiety and overwhelm

The brain makes over 1,000,000,000,000 calculations per second, most of those thoughts are unhelpful clutter taking up valuable real estate. But imagine if you could clear out even a little bit of those thoughts to create space for more magic to come in.
